Another Dawn

Whenever I think about the dawn
Great beauty is never far from my mind
For without the subtle shades of hello
There would not follow the brash midday
Nor the solemn sunset
Without the pastel pigments of the morning
There would not follow the restful dark of night
I often try to catch the dawn
Wait for it around the corner of my curtains
Peeping with hope through tired eyes
But it is always when I blink
Turn back to my sleeping love
Or slip back into peaceful subconscious
That it rises from eastern shores
Making me smile that another day has risen
Tranquil, with the touch of a caring mother
The dawn takes my eyes into enlightenment
And blesses them with the oncoming sun
I will always be grateful for this
I will always be waiting for it
