The First Time

There is no death,
No melancholy whim,
No prospect of return,
Nor enticement to proceed
That should move me;
Drag me from this moment,
This landslide of emotion
That I know shall last eternity.
It is the moment you see me for the first time
And shall do so forever more.
It is the first of a million fragments in time,
Or so I hope;
Or so I wish.
