The Freeze

Ice crystals build
They run through these veins
Sluggish
A semi-liquid illusion of life
Blue, but not Royal
It is a cold realisation
All is not as others believe
But what do I believe
I am not me nor he
I am nothing
A geometric anomaly
A unique conglomeration of frozen water
Transparent
A chill rattles through my heart
This is not what I wish
A sigh catches
Icicle incisors clench
An expulsion of breath
White in the night
Snowflakes caught in space
Everything pauses
A creak
A crack
A scratch
A scrape
Then more
The first cut hurts
Second less
By the third, ice already builds
Glacial, the freeze comes
It will never thaw
Never
