Richard is a writer and author of The Eternals Series published by Creativia. A former Authonomy.com gold medalist, part of HarperCollins, Richard has had many short stories and poetry published and always feels extremely privileged each time.
A prolific writer, a constant source of clearing his mind, Richard has created this website to share just some of the many poems and prose he has written that would otherwise have fallen by the wayside.
Reading and writing have always been Richard's main love along with the pursuit of keeping fit. Running, walking, and anything that provides a spectacular view always feature highly for him.
Running in the rain with his headphones on whilst dreaming up some future storyline is just about perfect. It would be nicer still if that run was in Switzerland or Norway, but we can't have everything.
Oh, and coffee, lots and lots of coffee.

That’s a pretty awesome shot. Great words for the pic!
Thanks, Dorinda. 🙂
You’re welcome 😃
Nice photo! I tried to photograph it too, but failed. I couldn’t do the scene justice in pictures. Instead, I used it as a writing prompt on my blog here: https://tessmgarfield.wordpress.com/2017/10/17/a-day-on-the-edge-of-a-hurricane/
Thanks, Tess. 🙂
It sure was a strange sky.
Reblogged this on Stories from the Heart and commented:
A great picture of the sky I wrote about recently. https://tessmgarfield.wordpress.com/2017/10/17/a-day-on-the-edge-of-a-hurricane/
It really, really was eerie and I think you’ve captured the mood very well:)
Thanks, Sarah. I was sat writing in my bay window and my iPad kept changing colour LOL
I wandered outside as I was sitting at the computer and as the sky turned that leaden orange colour and it steadily got darker, I wondered if it was the apocalypse finally arriving!
If it was we both survived it. I think that’s good?
Oh definitely! All I could think was – bugger – I’ve only just published my first book!
If we’re the only two left and I buy a copy it’d be a best seller. That’s some bonus. 🤔
There’s always that:))
It’s those ghosts !
👻
Thanks, Sarah. 🙂
Strange. We had yellow skies here for a few days when the wild fires were sending up smoke and ash. Very eerie. You captured the odd color well.
It was the fires in Portugal that set ours off apparently.
The reach of the smoke is amazing, isn’t it? Kind of scary.
It sure is.
Great photo and words, Richard, and strange hues, for sure. We experienced the same here with the northern Cal. fires. The sun was a vibrant orange shade, but it was more eerie than beautiful. 🙂
It’s a strange going on, Lauren. Even weirder when folk say it’s happened all over. You just don’t expect it.
Fantastic description! jaundiced light…amazing!
Thank you. It was.
I absolutely love this piece of yours, Richard. It has got this ‘mysterious atmoshphere’ that I associate with things that exist in the sacred space – somewhere between ‘life and death’ – on the edge of both, in between. I loved the end of that piece and you have no idea how much I can identify myself with those words which bring back in memory my own experiences (that are not just a ‘literary experiences’ but the real ones). Actually your work has a little to do with my recent post called ‘The Artists Are The Only True Eveangelists of Collective Unconciousness’ – and you are just another example – with the things you write – how well you match the atmosphere created by Visual Artists such as Henrik Uldalen or Gabriele Viertel or hundreds of others. It is something that Artist have ‘sharpened’ trough years devoted to the cultivating their Art, something that ‘Mere Mortals’ seem to forget about…Have a look at my blog and tell me how you liked it – but most importantly, have an enjoyable and inspired rest of the week.
Thank you for such kind words, Anna. I really appreciate it.
Lovely, Richard. With all the hurricanes, fires, and earthquakes it’s no wonder the sky changes color at times. —- Suzanne
Too true. There’s some strange things going on.
