Introductions

Hello everyone.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope you enjoy the stories and poetry posted here. Most of the works are now new after having given the site a seven-year makeover.

As for me, what can I say? I live to write and write to live. The best of both worlds. I write far too much and hoard most of what I do, hence here. My website is a little place to highlight, and hopefully have people enjoy, the ones that got away.

I am the English author of The Eternals dark fantasy series – (Please see more about my Novels on their own page).. I have featured in Expanded Field Journal, Love Letters To Poe, After The Pause, and feel privileged to have appeared in many more.

When not writing, I love reading, running, all sports, and walking through beautiful scenery. If I lived in view of a mountain with a stream running through the bottom of my garden, I’d never resurface. I have the world’s worse memory and have caffeine-laced blood.

I have two sayings: 1. I’d rather be a happy pauper than a wealthy zombie. 2. Never give up on your dreams, and never let anyone tell you you’re not good enough. You can be.

PS: You’re supposed to write these in third person, and professionally I would, but when dealing with friends, that’s far too impersonal.

    Been roaming your woods and been having a grand time.
    Question for you if you would indulge…the mountain pic with water on your blog. It looks familiar, very similar to my home in BC Canada. May I ask where this is?

I usually only read your poetry but have just come across your writing section on the blog and am in awe – your writing here is even more beautiful when you have less structure. I hope that one day I too have the courage to quit my job and do what i love like you! best of luck

      3. England. And it wasn’t a hard choice. Money doesn’t do much for me and the job was killing me.
        I just love to write and people say I’m not as bad as I thought I was 🙂

  20. Congrats, Richard, on winning the Authonomy award! I recall when we “met” on Authonomy way back when. I am glad to see that you are still at it, have dedicated your time to writing, and are encouraging others as you did even then! I apologize for not returning to Authonomy and I still have that email somewhere where you encouraged me to come back! Well, as it turns out, that novel I had up, The Hand of Refuge, is available for purchase on the publisher’s website and will be in stores on May 27. Now, I am working on a sequel to it, as well as returning to my old fantasy series with some various tweeks! I wish you the best! Perhaps now, I can return to Authonomy. Not as a writer wanting to get published, but as an author helping others achieve their dreams.

    1. Hi, Anthony, great to see you. Yes, I got my award, but it took that long in review that I wrote two new books whilst waiting (LOL) the first is out trying for a publisher. I got very disillusioned with Authonomy, good books got overlooked for rubbish and I’ve barely been on in a year.
      I’m delighted for you. That’s fantastic news about your book and you’re obviously enjoying writing the second. I think that’s all that matters really.
      I hope life is treating you well stateside and you weren’t bothered too much by that terrible weather.

Not only does it give me a chance to read your artfully crafted writing, but it warms my heart to find that someone with such immense talent actually finds me worthy of following! I’m glad that you resigned from your job to live your passion. I hope to do that someday, as I believe that if we’re not embracing our creativity daily, then we’re not really living.       Leaving work to write was the only option I had in my own mind, so I never think of it as being inspirational, but you are absolutely right with your reasoning.

  48. Catching up with reading your posts but it seems for some reason I cannot comment on any of them. Have you shut off comments on your newer posts for some reason?

      1. I didn’t I swear. But I just came in to your new one and it has my face looking back at me, saying I’ve pressed like, which I was about to, but it’s done it for me. 😒 I understand about the comments, sometimes it’s nice to have the break.
