Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope you enjoy the stories and poetry posted here. Most of the works are now new after having given the site a seven-year makeover.
As for me, what can I say? I live to write and write to live. The best of both worlds. I write far too much and hoard most of what I do, hence here. My website is a little place to highlight, and hopefully have people enjoy, the ones that got away.
I am the English author of The Eternals dark fantasy series – (Please see more about my Novels on their own page).. I have featured in Expanded Field Journal, Love Letters To Poe, After The Pause, and feel privileged to have appeared in many more.
When not writing, I love reading, running, all sports, and walking through beautiful scenery. If I lived in view of a mountain with a stream running through the bottom of my garden, I’d never resurface. I have the world’s worse memory and have caffeine-laced blood.
I have two sayings: 1. I’d rather be a happy pauper than a wealthy zombie. 2. Never give up on your dreams, and never let anyone tell you you’re not good enough. You can be.
Thanks for reading this and I hope you enjoy the poetry and prose on the site.
PS: You’re supposed to write these in third person, and professionally I would, but when dealing with friends, that’s far too impersonal.

Hello! I love your blog and so I have nominated you for the Versatile Award 🙂 I’m new to the nominating side of this world and had to nominate your blog. You’ve probably already been nominated lol but I really love your posts so had to nominate you anyway!
Here is a link to my page for more information on the rules and such..

Aww, thanks for thinking of me. Much appreciated 🙂
I enjoyed reading more about your background, Richard. You are an amazing writer who continually inspires me. I like the changes you’ve made here and wish you the very best always.
And you’re too kind, as always. 🙂
And you’re very humble, as always. 🙂
Thank you for thinking of me 🙂
Hey. I just spent around half an hour seeing most of your posts. Those poems were just beautiful. Keep writing. 🙂
Oh no! LOL
Does that mean I need to pay you half an hours wage?
:3 that would be nice.
Hi Richard – I appreciate your follow. I’ve been reading through some of your poems and have enjoyed what I’ve read. I hope to visit again to explore some more.
Thanks, Shery, very kind 🙂
Hi Richard, I have nominated you for The Premio Dardos Award! I bet you are quivering in excitement… or perhaps you might be hitting your head against a wall repeating the phrase “Not another award, not another award!” You don’t have to accept this award, but I would love for you to pop over to my blog and come celebrate! There will be imaginary champagne, disco balls and a drumming cat! What more could one want? Hehe.
I celebrate every time I visit your blog. And thanks, Amanda. 🙂
Well, in that case, you’d better fetch those disco shoes and party poppers! 😀
Love your story of how you came to write full time! I have a very similar story, so I say huzzah to you pursuing your dreams! It is no easy task to uproot everything and chase after the unknown. But it looks like you are absolutely doing what you were born to do, and that’s amazing. Great “About” section; I enjoyed learning about your story. Keep up the wonderful writing. I look forward to reading more of your work in the near future. In the meantime, happy writing. 🙂
Thank you, very kind.
And I’m glad you think so and hope it’s just as wonderful for you. 🙂
Why, thank you! It is amazing, yes. I appreciate your sentiment. Looking forward to watching your journey continue!
Thank you for following my blog and liking my work. It really is very much appreciated. I loved your writing and mostly your intro… Doing what we love the most is what success is all about.. I’m talking about the success of inner happiness 🙂 Looking forward to read more of your lovely work 🙂
Thank you very much. I’m glad I’m not the only one out there that values happiness 🙂
Aw!! That’s true 🙂 Keep enjoying your work and keep shinning 🙂
And you 🙂
I got very misty-eyed reading this, may have forgotten details–we have that wonky (?) memory thing in common, as I recall. Hope you’re doing well, enjoying good health and success, Raven Prince.
I was doing well but today I feel like someone has shoved a dagger in my left eye.
I hope you are all and that the novel is coming along nicely.
PS. I think it’s about time you started another blog to keep me on my toes.
You’re hilarious–unfinished novel and memoir still locked in turret, but I took the ankle chain off briefly to visit you. Ever so sorry about the dagger, poet-pal–I’ve had full-surround headache for days, sort of a helmet effect, so I’m both sympathetic and empathizing. Prayers on the way for your relief. Jorios coming up, if you’re interested….no obligation.
Gee whiz! Headaches full-surround, that’s not good. Look after yourself.
Thanks, and don’t worry–I’m a durable drama queen…
Thanks for thinking of me 🙂
I’m excited for the “Decadent Gothic” 🙂 I just stop by to thank you for liking my posts 😀 I love your poetry! 🙂 Best of luck to you 😀
Thank you, Nicole, that’s very much appreciated. 🙂
Thanks for the likes from my blog and for the follow. A published, award winning author eh? Still getting rejections myself, I am twisted with jealousy!
If I can do it anyone can. Just keep plugging away.
Hi Richard. I have thanked you for liking my pieces so here goes… Thanks, Richard.
I also think I nominated you to The Versatile Blogger Award. Pls go check https://rainefairy.wordpress.com/2015/05/18/another-wp-legit-award-versatility/
lemme correct that… I have NOT thanked you for…
Thank you very much for the award but I don’t do them. I really appreciate the thought though 🙂
Thank you for following me and liking my flash fiction. Your Decadent Gothic series sounds intriguing!
You’re welcome, and thanks to you too 🙂
So happy to have found your site. I believe everything happens as it is meant to. Call it what you will. So here I am with tears in my eyes from reading your About page -about you quitting you job because you realized you could not be happy unless writing. That is me, as well. I am coming into my true nature and trying to allow my dream(s) to come true. I tend to stop myself short. Still not totally believing I am deserving of this life I want….the writer’s life. Still trying to find support from others who live this life. So I have landed at the foot of your mountain as I begin to connect with those on the same path down by that sweet trickling stream with pen and paper in hand. The dreamers, the lovers, the creators connecting through cyberspace, a world far removed from nature, yet a vehicle in which to bring the like minded together…
Thanks for sharing your poetry, prose, and your journey.
Thanks, Suzanne, it’s nice to meet you. I’m glad my own tale resonated with you and wish you every future success 🙂
Did someone mention “fantasy”?
Yay! -happy dance-

Likewise. And thank you very much. 🙂
Thanks for stopping by my blog today! And yours, by the way, is very lovely from the fog surrounding the green mountain to your words of a new world for you. Congrats!
Thank you very much 🙂
“I’d rather be a happy pauper than a wealthy zombie.” I totally agree!!…but due to my kids I must “zombie” on…..for now!
Thanks, Matt, that’s a good reason to do so 🙂
Congratulations on your great achievements! No doubt more still to come. May your light keep shining!
Thank you, very kind 🙂
Love the poems I have read so far and congratulations on your achievements, only few are really able to follow their passion. Looking forward to catch up with all of your poems slowly. I am still working on my writing skills and after reading your poem, I am even more determined to improve and get to where I want one day. Stay connected and keep up the great work.
Thanks, Gaurav, that’s really kind of you.
I have to agree if I lived next to the lake in your background photo I would never leave either! I love reading your poems thank you x
Thank you very much.
PS I hope your blog is all alright now 🙂
I think it is back to normal but I haven’t heard about the job so maybe they saw the bad version 😦 oh well such is life!
Oh my, oh my, oh my! Here we have an humble celebrity! I just read the about page and how stupidly I was rambling 😳😁. Science fiction and Gothic themes and vampires ❤, wow, wow, wow! It must be so adventurous to be a writer… I well…my eyes are shining with that ‘I-am-honoured-to-meet-you-sir, it’s-a-once-in-a-lifetime-sort-of-thing’ look. Seems I got lucky, yay! (although I respected you as much without knowing your credentials, but it feels great!). Thanks once again, I got more than I deserve because of you. 😁
Good luck, best wishes and regards.
You don’t have to thank me. And that’s for the kind words even though I’m just another writer. I’m trying though. 😄
No, no, writers are never ‘just’ another. Each one is so special in some way, and currently you’re one of my favourites 😉 along with Erich von Däniken (his theory might be a little crazy but it’s intriguing and I like his courage to think of unique possibilities) and even Oscar Wilde and H.G. Wells. Oh I even like John Keats, Jerome K. Jerome and Pearl S. Buck. There are plenty of blog writers I love. And about poetry, well, I like poems by almost anybody with flair! I haven’t read too much but I know there are plenty of awesome writers and poets. There is much I can learn from your down-to-earth ways. 😏 You’re not trying anymore, you’re a hit already! 👏 Hmm.. Although your work has already surpassed our expectations, probably you expect from yourself to do even better, genius! I always love reading everything you write. There’s not one piece that I can say is mediocre sort or even just good or okay, all are masterpieces! Sometimes I feel frustrated – why can’t I hit ‘like’ a thousand times!? Oh, Mr. Famous and Fabulous might not have the time to read so much :p
Take care, best wishes and regards. 😀
Thank you very much. That was a good list 🙂
Do you not sleep? :p
Haunting photo background to this page. The presentation beckons. Wonderful.
Thank you very much 🙂
Thank you for liking “On Dying Slowly.” I wrote it as part of the Tupelo Press and Teen Creative Writing Center 30/30 Poetry Fundraiser at https://tupelopress.wordpress.com/3030-project/ I hope you consider donating. Every little bit helps. And, thanks again for supporting my writing. 🙂
You’re welcome 🙂
